Director, Information Technology (Fractional)

We’re looking for a Fractional Director of IT to provide strategic leadership and hands-on execution across IT operations, cybersecurity, enterprise systems, and digital transformation. In this role, you’ll bring deep technical expertise and a business-driven approach to ensure our technology backbone is strong, secure, and optimized for growth.
As a key advisor and operator, you’ll work closely with the Director of Operations to implement and oversee IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and enterprise applications, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure technology accelerates business outcomes. This fractional engagement allows you to drive high-impact initiatives while providing flexible, expert guidance tailored to our scaling needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner with department heads to understand their technology needs and deliver tailored IT solutions.
- Act as a bridge between business leaders and IT teams, translating business goals into technology initiatives.
- Mentor and manage an IT team, fostering a culture of innovation, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
- Provide leadership on AI adoption within IT operations, ensuring teams leverage AI capabilities effectively.
- Must possess strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, translating complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights.
Strategic Planning and Implementation:
- The Director of IT is responsible for executing the IT strategy that aligns with the organization's goals. This includes identifying technology trends, planning for future IT needs, and ensuring that IT resources are effectively utilized to support business objectives.
- Ensure the company’s systems are protected from a cybersecurity standpoint.
- Streamlining all manual data collection/reporting through automation, ensuring consistent/accurate metrics are available to all end-users.
- Prioritizing short and long-term requests/projects based on overarching company goals and impact (company, employee or client).
- Assessing all systems on an ongoing basis to ensure we are using the proper stack as a company based on our goals and growing teams.
IT Infrastructure and Digital Transformation:
- Execute a comprehensive IT strategy aligned with the company’s AI-driven technology vision.
- Oversee IT operations, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability of enterprise systems.
- Oversee and manage enterprise systems, including ERP, CRM, HRIS, and collaboration tools.
- Lead digital transformation efforts to modernize IT infrastructure and improve operational efficiency.
- Identify and integrate emerging technologies that enhance productivity and automation.
- Ensure that maintenance and support tasks are completed in a timely manner in the ticketing system.
- Provide regular maintenance/upkeep on our internal infrastructure as needed.
- Ensure that Work Hubspot, Stripe, and other applications are all high-level integrations with our systems that work smoothly and function fully at all times.
- Manage budgets and purchase software and hardware as necessary.
- Document all builds, systems, and infrastructure with sequence diagrams, flow charts, wireframes, prototypes, report mockups, and any other models and diagrams that are beneficial.
- Manage all company platforms and password protections.
- Oversee the management of Manage all onboarding and off-boarding of employees from a security standpoint.
- Developing standard operating procedures based on best practice and in support of strategies set by upper management; ensuring documented protocols, guidelines, and training are provided to all end-users.
- Assist in leading the adoption and integration of AI technologies, driving innovation and efficiency while ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.
IT Operations & Support
- Lead the IT team in providing seamless support and ensuring system uptime.
- Optimize IT service management (ITSM) processes to improve response times and efficiency.
- Oversee vendor management, including contract negotiations and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Implement automation and AI-driven tools to streamline IT operations and reduce manual workload.
Cybersecurity
- Ensure a secure, scalable, and high-performance IT infrastructure, including cloud computing, network management, and DevOps practices.
- Oversee cybersecurity initiatives, including threat detection, incident response, and compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO 27001).
- Establish robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans using AI-driven risk assessment tools.
- Develop policies and procedures to ensure IT governance, data integrity, and regulatory compliance.
RESULTS:
- IT Team: The IT team is properly staffed and able to support the needs of our fast-growing company as well as aligned with our culture.
- Cross Departmental: You partner with other departments proactively and collaboratively. Departments are properly trained on how to use all IT systems as well as how to interact with the IT team.

- All systems are properly connected/integrated with each other to ensure smooth customer communication and employee communication.
- Cybersecurity Maturity: Strengthened security posture with proactive threat detection and mitigation.
- IT Efficiency Gains: Increased automation, leading to a reduction in manual workflows, errors and improved response times.
- Business Impact: Seamless integration of IT systems with business processes, leading to measurable improvements in productivity and cost savings.
- AI & Automation Adoption: Successful deployment of AI-driven IT solutions that enhance efficiency and decision-making.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience as IT director or similar role (3 years minimum as a leader).
- Minimum of 8 years experience in the technology field, including IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise applications, and digital transformation.
- Experience in high-growth or entrepreneurial environments is preferred.
- Proven track record of implementing and managing enterprise IT systems (ERP, CRM, HRIS).
- Vast experience with Stripe, Hubspot, and Hubspot Integrations.
- Strong knowledge of AI/ML applications in IT operations and cybersecurity.
Technical Skills
- Expertise in enterprise IT architecture, cybersecurity, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), and automation.
- Experience with compliance and regulatory standards (SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001).
- Strong understanding of AI-driven cybersecurity tools, network security, and risk management.
- Proficiency in ITSM frameworks (ITIL, COBIT) and project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum).
- Must work in a timely fashion and execute at a high level to accommodate the growth of the fast-growing company.
- Ability to understand and code new API integrations between various web software tools and platforms.
- Must be comfortable with web-based software platforms and have a strong understanding of content delivery systems.
- Strong communication skills to address issues and concerns as they arise to keep momentum strong and avoid stalls.
- Be accurate and deliver quality. Have a “roll up your sleeves and dive in” attitude.
- Must be solutions-oriented and resourceful, a long-term thinker forecasting 2nd and 3rd order effects.
- Must be even-keeled, able to focus, yet adapt to keep up with ever-changing requirements.
- Ability and desire to quickly learn new platforms, systems or technologies.
